A New Service for DJs

Created by a DJ (DJ Tony Z to be exact) for DJs, twiij is a new promotional service for the world’s foremost taste-maker DJs and nightlife impresarios who break new tracks to music fans worldwide every day.

Looking to get your music into the hands of some of the hottest DJs on the planet? It’s very simple to use. Just click “Submit a Tweet” in the navigation menu or click here and use our simple form to submit your new release to twiij followers.

All Tweets are sent to DJs following our Twitter feed @twiidj. Only DJs and a few nightlife moguls (and of course, some of Tony’s long time friends) are allowed to follow. Anyone else will have to tweet through twiij, but that’s the fun. Who wants to sit there and follow all these DJs? It’s time consuming at best and blackboard-scratching annoying at worst! That’s why it’s a great time for twiij, because it’s easy for us to aggregate so many DJs in one place!

Currently, the service is free to use in it’s beta form. We will be implementing a fee based service shortly, so we can afford to offer a suite of services that are on the plate. Trust us, the cost of twiij will be so low, it’ll be the most cost effective way to get to as many DJs as quickly as possible on Twitter.

The best thing about twiij is that we hash everything with a tag. For example, #House or #Hiphop. That way, any DJ following the feed can search the hashed genre to find all House music or all Hip Hop, if that’s what they are interested in. They can then simply follow the RSS feed for that hash and get only the tracks that are relevant to them. And, your stuff doesn’t get lost in some never ending email thread. It’s archived on Twitter and will appear on the Twiij.com blog roll in our nightly wrap-up. Because all Tweet’s are hashed they are easy to find; whether it’s the #genre, #type, #artist, #title, or even the #URL, which is shortened for brevity using the bit.ly URL service. Yup, we thought of just about everything!

The benefit of twiij is that it’s all genres and all types. Sure, you can be a label and follow your favorite selectors, but we’re making it so that you can Tweet to all DJs at once and the DJs can select what they want to follow. That’s cool beans!

twiij, A Play on Words

Well, we liked the “tweejay,” but that was taken. We also liked “tweej,” but that was taken as well. We thought “twii” would be a unique play on words and then we added the “j” at the end. The neat part was getting the 3 dots over the “ii” and the “j,” which will be turned into spinning vinyl or something like that in the near future. Or, we’ll just leave it along, because it looks kind a cool.

The Guy Behind Twiij

Tony Zeoli

Tony Zeoli

Internet dance music and DJ culture pioneer, Tony Zeoli, is the sole proprietor of this new little tool. Tony also operates the long running blog and mix show site, Netmix.com, where you can hear his mix shows and read up on whatever pops into his ridiculously creative mind. He also writes a blog at tonyzeoli.com on Internet Product Development and Information Architecture. By day, Tony does Product Dev and IA work at Zaah Technologies in the metro NYC area.

Tony says, “I’ve been on Twitter for, like, four years now.” All of a sudden, there was an insane explosion of Twitter users. I woke up one day and thought, heck, wouldn’t it be neat if I could just build a tool to Tweet Djs with new track information every day? Sort of like a record pool for DJs on Twitter, without the DJs having to foot the bill. DJs pay enough for equipment, music, health insurance, transportation, etc…etc… Why not just give something back to the heros who make the party jump, that they don’t have to pay for. We’re kind of sick of paying for everything, especially in a down economy.”

For record labels, Tony adds, “Billboard, Record Pools, Radio Promotion…blah, blah, blah. Who can afford all that? twiij provides a low cost solution (currently free!) to get to as many DJs as possible without all the hassle. Instead of compiling an email list, yada yada, we’re doing all the hard work for you getting the DJs to follow us. All you have to do is come here, enter your tracks details and you’ve gotten to the right DJs using Twitter. It’s pretty simple and very easy to use. All you do is fill out the form and we send the Tweet for you.”
